OBOB: Oregon Battle of the Books

Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a reading and trivia competition. There are three divisions (grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12) in which students across the state read books from a predetermined list and “battle” against teams using trivia questions about the books. Willagellespie helps formulate and coach teams for the school competition in February. Mr. Monson Runs the program at our school and you can reach out to him with any questions. You can let him know if you have already formed a team. He has compiled these excellent resources for your OBOBers.

University of Oregon’s Community Music Institute is celebrating nearly three decades of string instruction to the Eugene community! Students ages preschool and up can enroll to begin piano, violin, and viola lessons to begin a life-long journey of learning teamwork, discipline, and creative expression, and having fun through music. https://www.uocmi.com/

- Magical Mombah performances- Come join the entire Moombah gang for The Magical Moombah! Fun! Contests! Jokes! Lots of songs! Dancing around! The Shedd Institute's Magical Moombah is a musical vaudeville for kids that will come to the Jaqua Concert Hall 4 times a year! Filled with skits, songs and contests, the Moombah is designed to introduce youngsters to the great folks and popular songs that everyone should know.
- Music Box Program- Music Box introduces the world of music with hands-on explorations of different instruments, songs, musical styles, and some music basics to help students discover the right “fit”. The extended 1 hr 25 min format of Music Box not only give students an introduction to traditional American Music, along with crafts, movement, and introduction to new instruments each session, it will also provide students with a more in-depth instruction on ukulele and piano.

Enrollment is open! We currently have spots available for the 2024/25 school year. Located just 7 minutes from Willagillespie Elementary! The Book Nook Preschool is dedicated to creating a nurturing, holistic, natural, and welcoming environment for children ages 3-6.5 years old. Our unique program incorporates the very best of each of these educational theories including Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori & play-based learning. Our program provides predictability and consistency with a daily routine that helps our youngest learners thrive.
